Have you ever played with a corn cob pipe? We did as children. We’d pretend to be Popeye, or Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn. How about Sherlock Holmes? Say, where did General Douglas MacArthur get that outrageous corn cob pipe? Answer: From the Missouri Meerschaum Corn Cob Pipe Museum and Retail Shoppe! The store is celebrating its 150th year in business.
The Kraken Poolside Monster was funny and the 8-Ball Water Tower demonstrated a good sense of humor. The Trail’s End Cattle Drive Destination Monument was hard to photograph. It’s located on one of the corners of the Missouri Fair Grounds amid heavy traffic along with no parking spots nor cross-walks to get to it. We did our best to take photos from the car.
Later we took a break from our driving by resting at Blind Boone Park. He is a definite inspiration to those who think that they are down and out for the count. We were only disappointed that his park wasn’t kept up a nicely as it could be.
